Psychiatrist in Jaipur for patients from Madhya Pradesh
Northern Madhya Pradesh links to Jaipur by road and by rail through Sawai Madhopur, Kota and Agra. It is a long journey, so families from Gwalior, Morena, Shivpuri and Guna usually come for something specific: a second opinion, an assessment for a child, or hospital admission when a relative in Jaipur can help.

Why people travel
When the journey to Jaipur makes sense
Gwalior has large hospitals and psychiatrists of its own, and most families in the region will rightly start there. A journey to Jaipur is worth it when treatment has not worked and you want a fresh opinion, or when family in Jaipur makes a longer stay possible.
A second opinion
When treatment has not helped, or a diagnosis does not seem right, a fresh look at the whole history can clear things up.
Addiction
Alcohol and drug problems, often with a family that would rather seek help away from home.

Getting to Jaipur and where to stay
By road
From Gwalior and Morena, the usual road goes north to Dholpur and then west to the Jaipur-Agra highway through Bharatpur and Dausa, entering Jaipur from the east. From Shivpuri, many drivers go through Sheopur and Sawai Madhopur. From Guna, the highway through Baran and Kota joins NH-52 through Bundi and Tonk, which passes Narayana Hospital before it reaches the clinic.
By train and air
Guna is on the line through Kota and Sawai Madhopur to Jaipur, with a daily train of about seven and a half to eight and a half hours. Gwalior and Morena are on the Delhi main line, with only some direct trains a week to Jaipur, so many people change at Agra. Shivpuri usually means a change at Guna or Gwalior.
Where to stay
Hotels and guest houses are easy to find around Jaipur Junction and Sindhi Camp, a short ride from the clinic. If your appointment is at Narayana Hospital, or someone is admitted there, it is easier to stay in the Pratap Nagar and Tonk Road area. Mention it when you book, and the team can tell you which side of the city to stay on.

How a first visit and follow-ups are planned
01
Before you set out
Call or WhatsApp to book, and confirm your slot the day before. Choose a time that leaves room for the journey both ways; for a long trip, a midday appointment or a night in Jaipur takes the pressure off.
02
What to bring
Every earlier prescription, the strips or boxes of current medicines, test reports and any hospital discharge summary, with a short written note of when the problem began and what has been tried.
03
Who should come
The patient and one or two family members who know the history. If the person who needs help refuses to come, family members can come first to talk through how to approach them.
04
After the first visit
Follow-ups are closer together at first, then spaced several weeks apart once treatment is settled, and planned around your travel. Dr. Mathur explains what to watch for in between and when to call.
If hospital admission is needed
Sometimes care is safest in hospital for a while: a severe depression with thoughts of self-harm, mania or psychosis, alcohol withdrawal that needs medical supervision, or someone who has stopped eating and drinking. Dr. Mathur is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Narayana Hospital in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, so if admission is needed it can be arranged there and care continues under the same psychiatrist. For families from Madhya Pradesh, it helps if one relative can stay in Jaipur during the admission.
Questions, answered
Questions from families in Madhya Pradesh
Still unsure about something? Our team is happy to help.
Call 72404-45656Do we have to stay overnight in Jaipur?
Almost certainly, yes. From northern Madhya Pradesh the journey takes most of a day each way, so plan to arrive the evening before your appointment and rest. Say where you are travelling from when you book, so that the team can suggest a morning slot.
What is the best way to reach Jaipur from Gwalior?
Road or rail through Agra are the usual choices, and both take most of a day. Some direct trains run during the week, so check the timetable first. If you are bringing someone who is unwell, a car with a second driver is often easier than changing trains.
What if the person who needs help refuses to come?
Family members can come first, without the patient, to describe what is happening and talk through how to approach them. Do not give medicines secretly or force the person; in an emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department.
How do we book from another state?
Call 72404-45656, send a WhatsApp message, or use the form on the Contact page, and say where you are travelling from, so that the team can suggest a time that suits your journey.
