Psychiatrist in Jaipur for patients from Delhi NCR

Delhi NCR has many psychiatrists, so few people here need to travel for care. Those who see Dr. Surabhi Mathur in Jaipur usually have a reason of their own: a second opinion, a home or family in Jaipur, or a parent in Rajasthan whose care they are arranging from a distance.

Why people travel

When the journey to Jaipur makes sense

If you already have a psychiatrist you trust in Delhi or Gurugram, stay with them; regular care close to home matters more than almost anything else. Jaipur suits people with family ties here, people who want a private second opinion away from their workplace and social circle, and adult children arranging care for a parent in Rajasthan.

  • A second opinion

When treatment has not helped, or a diagnosis does not seem right, a fresh look at the whole history can clear things up.

  • Addiction

Alcohol and drug problems, often with a family that would rather seek help away from home.

  • Psychosis and severe illness

Hearing voices, fixed false beliefs or a long illness that has not settled, with hospital admission if it is needed.

  • Assessments for children

Concerns about a child’s development, behaviour or learning, where a single careful assessment can guide the next steps.

Planning the trip

Getting to Jaipur and where to stay

By road

NH-48 runs from Delhi and Gurugram through Manesar, Dharuhera, Shahjahanpur and Kotputli and enters Jaipur on Delhi Road. Some drivers use the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to Dausa instead and come in from the east. From either side, allow time to cross the city to Nirman Nagar, on the western edge of central Jaipur.

By train and air

Several fast trains link Delhi with Jaipur in about four and a half hours or less, and many stop at Gurgaon. Flights between Delhi and Jaipur are short, and Jaipur airport is in Sanganer, in the south of the city, not far from Narayana Hospital.

Where to stay

Hotels and guest houses are easy to find around Jaipur Junction and Sindhi Camp, a short ride from the clinic. If your appointment is at Narayana Hospital, or someone is admitted there, it is easier to stay in the Pratap Nagar and Tonk Road area. Mention it when you book, and the team can tell you which side of the city to stay on.

Your visit

How a first visit and follow-ups are planned

  1. 01

    Before you set out

Call or WhatsApp to book, and confirm your slot the day before. Choose a time that leaves room for the journey both ways; for a long trip, a midday appointment or a night in Jaipur takes the pressure off.

  2. 02

    What to bring

Every earlier prescription, the strips or boxes of current medicines, test reports and any hospital discharge summary, with a short written note of when the problem began and what has been tried.

  3. 03

    Who should come

The patient and one or two family members who know the history. If the person who needs help refuses to come, family members can come first to talk through how to approach them.

  4. 04

    After the first visit

Follow-ups are closer together at first, then spaced several weeks apart once treatment is settled, and planned around your travel. Dr. Mathur explains what to watch for in between and when to call.

If hospital admission is needed

Sometimes care is safest in hospital for a while: a severe depression with thoughts of self-harm, mania or psychosis, alcohol withdrawal that needs medical supervision, or someone who has stopped eating and drinking. Dr. Mathur is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Narayana Hospital in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, so if admission is needed it can be arranged there and care continues under the same psychiatrist. For families from Delhi NCR, it helps if one relative can stay in Jaipur during the admission.

Questions from families in Delhi NCR

Delhi has many psychiatrists. Why would I travel to Jaipur?

Often you would not need to. People choose Jaipur when their family lives here, when they want an opinion away from their workplace and social circle, or when they are arranging care for a parent in Rajasthan and want to meet the doctor themselves.

Can I fit a consultation into a weekend?

The clinic sees patients Monday to Saturday by prior appointment, and it is closed on Sunday. A Saturday slot lets you travel on Friday evening or early Saturday and return on Sunday. Book ahead, because these slots suit many people who travel in.

My parent lives in Rajasthan and I live in NCR. Can I be part of the consultation?

It helps if you can come to the first visit, because you may notice things your parent does not mention. Ask the team when you book about how to stay involved after that, with your parent’s agreement.

What if the person who needs help refuses to come?

Family members can come first, without the patient, to describe what is happening and talk through how to approach them. Do not give medicines secretly or force the person; in an emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department.

How do we book from another state?

Call 72404-45656, send a WhatsApp message, or use the form on the Contact page, and say where you are travelling from, so that the team can suggest a time that suits your journey.
