Psychiatrist in Jaipur for patients from Gujarat
Jaipur is far from most of Gujarat, and Ahmedabad has excellent psychiatric care of its own. The families from Gujarat who come to Dr. Surabhi Mathur usually have roots in Rajasthan, or they want a second opinion and have relatives in Jaipur who can help with the visit.

Why people travel
When the journey to Jaipur makes sense
Regular care close to home usually matters more than where the doctor is, and Gujarat has plenty of it. Coming to Jaipur makes sense for a one-off second opinion, or for Rajasthani families settled in Gujarat who would rather talk things through with family close at hand.
A second opinion
When treatment has not helped, or a diagnosis does not seem right, a fresh look at the whole history can clear things up.
Addiction
Alcohol and drug problems, often with a family that would rather seek help away from home.

Hearing voices, fixed false beliefs or a long illness that has not settled, with hospital admission if it is needed.

Planning the trip
Getting to Jaipur and where to stay
By road
The road from Ahmedabad runs north through Udaipur or Abu Road to Ajmer, about 650 km in all, and then along NH-48 into Jaipur on Ajmer Road, on the clinic’s own side of the city. It is too far to drive there and back without at least one overnight stop, so most families fly or take a train.
By train and air
Direct flights between Ahmedabad and Jaipur take about an hour and a half, and Jaipur airport is in Sanganer, in the south of the city, not far from Narayana Hospital. Overnight trains also connect the two cities and arrive at Jaipur Junction. Check current schedules before you book your appointment.
Where to stay
Hotels and guest houses are easy to find around Jaipur Junction and Sindhi Camp, a short ride from the clinic. If your appointment is at Narayana Hospital, or someone is admitted there, it is easier to stay in the Pratap Nagar and Tonk Road area. Mention it when you book, and the team can tell you which side of the city to stay on.

How a first visit and follow-ups are planned
01
Before you set out
Call or WhatsApp to book, and confirm your slot the day before. Choose a time that leaves room for the journey both ways; for a long trip, a midday appointment or a night in Jaipur takes the pressure off.
02
What to bring
Every earlier prescription, the strips or boxes of current medicines, test reports and any hospital discharge summary, with a short written note of when the problem began and what has been tried.
03
Who should come
The patient and one or two family members who know the history. If the person who needs help refuses to come, family members can come first to talk through how to approach them.
04
After the first visit
Follow-ups are closer together at first, then spaced several weeks apart once treatment is settled, and planned around your travel. Dr. Mathur explains what to watch for in between and when to call.
If hospital admission is needed
Sometimes care is safest in hospital for a while: a severe depression with thoughts of self-harm, mania or psychosis, alcohol withdrawal that needs medical supervision, or someone who has stopped eating and drinking. Dr. Mathur is a Consultant Psychiatrist at Narayana Hospital in Pratap Nagar, Jaipur, so if admission is needed it can be arranged there and care continues under the same psychiatrist. For families from Gujarat, it helps if one relative can stay in Jaipur during the admission.
Questions, answered
Questions from families in Gujarat
Still unsure about something? Our team is happy to help.
Call 72404-45656Is it worth coming to Jaipur from Gujarat?
Only if you have a particular reason, such as a second opinion on treatment that has not helped, or family in Jaipur who can support you. For regular care, a psychiatrist close to home is usually the better choice, because treatment often needs frequent review in the first weeks.
How should we plan a second-opinion visit from Ahmedabad?
Allow two days: travel in, see Dr. Mathur, and leave time for any tests she suggests before you return. Bring every prescription and report, with a list of each medicine tried, its dose and how long it was taken. Ask your own doctor for a short referral note if you can.
What if the person who needs help refuses to come?
Family members can come first, without the patient, to describe what is happening and talk through how to approach them. Do not give medicines secretly or force the person; in an emergency, call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department.
How do we book from another state?
Call 72404-45656, send a WhatsApp message, or use the form on the Contact page, and say where you are travelling from, so that the team can suggest a time that suits your journey.
